Intro to 2D Digital Designing with Inkscape
July 15, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
$65.
In this workshop Kazel Cass will introduce you to using Inkscape graphic design software to create digital designs. It is free software, easy to learn and can be used to create permaculture property designs, logos, letterheads and more.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Locate a property on Google Earth and the regional council Mapi site
- Clip a suitable image of the property and upload the image onto Inkscape
- Crop the image boundaries using Inkscape
- Create and use layers that show or hide detail of the design
- Draw, colour and manipulate shapes so that you can begin to create a portfolio of useful items to add to designs, such as houses, trees, gardens, compost bins
- Find online support and websites to help you develop more confidence as an Inkscape user.
You will need to bring your own device, pc or mac, with Inkscape already downloaded and installed. Inkscape is opensource, free software.
- Go to https://inkscape.org/en/download/ and choose the version for your device.
- Follow the instructions after downloading to install the software.
Please also download Google Earth.
Note: Inkscape is a two dimensional drawing tool. It is not able to generate and manipulate three dimensional landscapes or objects in the way that Sketchup does.
